MOVEMBER Charity Event with PLAYBOY

Movember 08
Movember 08

Last night I attended the Movember Charity Event at Capitale. For those of you unfamiliar with this altruistic (and incredibly sexy) cause…Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a charity event held during November each year.  At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo (Australian slang for moustache), raising money and awareness along the way for men’s health and the fight against prostate cancer.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck, Hulk Hogan and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title.

While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys or just love Mo’s!) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending the highly anticipated Gala Partés.

Last night’s Gala was held at Capitale and was also sponsored by Playboy.  There were 4 playmates on hand, one of which was my friend, the hot Mo Sista Lindsey Vuolo (Miss November 2001.)  However, I was disappointed that they too, were not donning sexy ’staches. (Note: mine was removed right before this photo was taken.)

Some of the MOst noteworthy MO’s were those supported by a very authentic Ghandi and an extremely handsome Ron Burgundy (”I love Scotch, Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch.”)
Random but important sidenote about me…I am a sucker for a well-done ’stache.  Some of you know this already, and some of you from last night REALLY know this already ;)
A great time was had by all, and all for an excellent cause.  Kudos to Playboy for helping to make this Movember event even MO sexy.

I RAN THE NY MARATHON

I'm such a dork in this picture, that I may as well have a medal around my neck. Oh, wait, I do.

I'm such a dork in this picture, I should be wearing a medal or something. Oh, wait, I am.

So I completed the 26.2 miles this past Sunday 11/2, in 4 hours. More on this later – I’m so sore, that I’ll have to update this post in increments.

THEY CALL ME COPENHAGENDORF…

THE BAND:

The Fashion is a band you need to know. I saw them in Roskilde, Denmark (their native country) in September 2007 and was blown away.  Musically, it’s a fusion of  The Rapture/Beastie Boys/LCD Soundsystem for starters. I A&R’d the band when I was at Epic and the guys have become some of my dearest friends. I’ve seen them now in Denmark, Norway, Austin, TX, and New York.

Frontman, Jakob Printzlau, is a multi-faceted artist, also known as his creative alter-ego, Plastic Kid. He produced, directed, and animated the video to The Fashion’s, lead single, Solo Impala (Take The Money and Run.) The video debuted winter 2007 on MTV and made its film festival premiere at 2008’s SXSW.

THE SHOW:

The Fashion recently wrapped up a tour supporting Alkaline Trio, but are currently opening for Indie electropop duo, Uh Huh Her. Uh Huh Her (the name inspired by a PJ Harvey song) consists of Leisha Hailey, best known for her acting role on Showtime’s The L Word, and Camila Grey, a former member of the band, Mellowdrone.  The Fillmore was packed with screaming female fans, most who seemed to be there for their love of The L Word; however, both bands received affection from the attentive crowd, and early into the opener’s set, the femmes seemed to fancy The Fashion as well.
