MUSIC – CMJ 2008 KICKOFF
Tonight was the 10th Annual Conflict of Interest Party hosted by The SYNDICATE, which marks the launch of CMJ each year. For those of you not familiar with CMJ, it’s an annual music conference that takes place in NY every fall. It’s sort of a back to school reunion for the full spectrum of music types – from those on the business end to those holding the instruments. (The annual SXSW conference in Austin is the Spring Break equivalent – but that’s not until March.) This year’s soiree, held at Rebel, was a lot less sweaty than last year’s sardine-fest, and actually had an icy theme attached this time around. Iceland’s lifestyle clothing brand, 66˚North, was a proud sponsor…and by sponsor, I mean they provided a photo op for party-goers to put on some 66˚ North coats and hats. Being that Iceland holds a special place in my heart – I visited Reykjavik to partake in the Iceland Airwaves Music Conference a few years ago – I was elated about the presence of this photo op…and because I love photo ops, and apparently the word photo op. As a result, I felt the need to don every coat and hat permutation possible. I will be sure to post the evidence once I get the photos back from the very talented NYC photographer Diana Levine (www.dianalevine.com), who was kind enough to entertain all of my creative combos. Thanks Diana
