THE BAND:

The Fashion is a band you need to know. I saw them in Roskilde, Denmark (their native country) in September 2007 and was blown away.  Musically, it’s a fusion of  The Rapture/Beastie Boys/LCD Soundsystem for starters. I A&R’d the band when I was at Epic and the guys have become some of my dearest friends. I’ve seen them now in Denmark, Norway, Austin, TX, and New York.

Frontman, Jakob Printzlau, is a multi-faceted artist, also known as his creative alter-ego, Plastic Kid. He produced, directed, and animated the video to The Fashion’s, lead single, Solo Impala (Take The Money and Run.) The video debuted winter 2007 on MTV and made its film festival premiere at 2008’s SXSW.

THE SHOW:

The Fashion recently wrapped up a tour supporting Alkaline Trio, but are currently opening for Indie electropop duo, Uh Huh Her. Uh Huh Her (the name inspired by a PJ Harvey song) consists of Leisha Hailey, best known for her acting role on Showtime’s The L Word, and Camila Grey, a former member of the band, Mellowdrone.  The Fillmore was packed with screaming female fans, most who seemed to be there for their love of The L Word; however, both bands received affection from the attentive crowd, and early into the opener’s set, the femmes seemed to fancy The Fashion as well.
